The solution for the virtual organization
If your organization relies on remote authors, knowledge workers or subject matter experts for contributions or review, then the Information Manager (IM) Web Application could be just what you're looking for.
The IM Web Application makes it possible for widely distributed groups of authors, reviewers and other knowledge workers to collaborate fully in the information lifecycle. Unlike limited view-only tools that simply distribute information, the IM Web Application gives remote users the power to view, check out, edit, and comment on any level of information in a remote IM repository.
Contribute, review, edit...from anywhere
The IM Web Application works with a central Texcel Information Manager system and a Web Server:

The IM Web Application is a cross-platform solution, and supports Web browsers from Microsoft and Netscape. It is easy to maintain, highly secure, and scalable.

Navigating
After logging into the remote repository using an assigned login and password, users can navigate the contents of remote repositories using a familiar hierarchical view of the repository:
* Simply click an IM "Project" icon — similar to a directory in a file system — and you can see the documents of all file types that it contains.
* Drill down through an XML or SGML document and you can see all the document objects, such as individual headings, paragraphs, and links.
* Navigate to any URL and between multiple repositories.
* Display metadata such as an object's author or modification date.
Viewing
You can view any document or fragment by simply pointing to the object and selecting the View button. The IM Web Application automatically creates a table of contents for intuitive navigation through your selection. If the source is in XML or SGML, the IM Web Application displays the content in HTML. You can view other file types, such as word processing documents, using the associated application or by using an available Web browser plug-in.
Searching
You can search a repository via a simple search form. This engages IM's powerful query engine, which finds information based on any combination of criteria, such as structure, content, and metadata.
Commenting
IM's unique Electronic Comment function is available through the IM Web Application. A remote reviewer can add comments to any document or information element.

These comments are managed in the repository and can be accessed by any user, anywhere — from the original author at your organization's head office to a contract employee in the field.

Editing
Authors and editors who work remotely can check objects or entire documents out through the IM Web Application, work offline, and then check the edited material back into the repository. The remote IM repository handles all version and access control.
